About Me

My name is Sean, and I am the one.

Well, no, not really. I mean yes, my name is Sean but I don’t think I am the one to anything, or at least nothing special. What I am though is an Officer in the United States Army that plays way to many games for my own good. I have been playing Pen and Paper games for almost 8 years now, nothing compared to some I know but at 24 I think that is pretty long. I have played all kinds of games, from Dungeons and Dragons to a bit of Shadowrun, with Exalted and Warhammer RPG thrown in as well as a number of other games touched here and there. I have multiple armies for Warhammer Fantasy and battle with my younger brother’s armies or sometimes my Soldier’s armies in 40k. Computer games take up a large portion of my free game, focused mostly on RPGs and Turn Based Strategy to Real Time Strategy. I build my own computers and must have the latest in technology. I am branched Signal for those who know about the Army, and for those who don’t, well my job deals with communications, computers and networks. Overall I think it is safe to say that I am indeed a geek and proud of it.

Being deployed to Iraq has given me quite a bit of time to think about many things, time to experiment with different games and to hang out with my friends when not having to do my mission. This free time has helped me to develop not only myself, but advance the games we play. In a Signal Company, most of the Soldiers are gamers, and that makes it quite easy to find those willing to play. We have a D+D 4e game going right now which I DM, and a second one in the works to allow a newer player to attempt her own skills at taking the lead. I love to DM, finding it as much fun if not even more fun to design an entire world, to create the Gods, the Universe, the Monsters and the quests as it is to play the game itself. In time I hope to make my works avaliable, worlds I have spent hundreds of hours making just right, dungeons played time and time again in multiple games and in a number of systems. But that is not my real baby, my real heart, for you see my real heart and real joy comes from creating Swords and Sorcery, a new and advanced RPG system designed by Soldiers for Soldiers (and of course everyone else who wants to use it).

SPECIAL

Something I had decided to do since starting my works on Swords and Sorcery is something for those Soldiers who are like me and are deployed away from family and many friends and across the world. Because of the way I am creating Swords and Sorcery, I have something that I call the Alpha Stage of the game, the stage where I have the basic rules and outlines, the information and skills needed but all in bullet format. It may not look special, and it might be a little rough around the edges, but it is the entire system to date and as I develop the game more it to develops with it. This Alpha System will be available for any deployed Soldier free of all charges. They can take this and use it to create their own systems, to build their own games in the Sword and Sorcery world, or do anything else they wish with it. So long as I am able to do so, deployed Soldiers will be able to play Swords and Sorcery as my thanks for what they do knowing all to well myself just what it is like.

In time, as I develop a bit more, I will also be creating a donations section, a place where you are more than welcomed to drop a dollar or two, or even buy an entire book to donate to someone. These donations will be used to send full copies of Swords and Sorcery, supplements and other material to those who are deployed, giving them a chance by your generosity to experience the game just like everyone else as our way of saying thank you for what you do.
